Dr. Obaid Saif Hamad Al Zaabi

Dr. Obaid Saif Hamad Al Zaabi is Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) in the United Arab Emirates. Dr. Al Zaabi has over 25 years of work experience in financial legislation, accounting, banking, finance and investment, and shari’ah-compliant finance from many leading financial institutions in the United Arab Emirates, such as the UAE Central BankDubai Islamic BankAmlak Finance, and the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA).

Dr. Al Zaabi has won numerous awards including the Sheikh Rashid Award for Academic Excellence and the Outstanding Impact Award in International Relations in the Al Forsan Employment Incentive Program.

He has a PhD in Finance and Banking from Durham University (UK); an MBA with distinction MBA from the Arab Academy for Science and a BSc in Business Administration and Accounting from The UAE University, UAE.

He is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (Australia); a Certified Islamic Professional Accountant (CIPA) of the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutes (AAOIFI); a Member of the  Institute of Financial Consultants (IFC); Member of the Accountant and Auditors Association of UAE (AAA), a Board member at the GCC Accounting and Auditing Organization (GCCAAO); Member of the Advisory Board of the College of Business and Economics at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), and a Member of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) in Malaysia.
