Dr. Patricia M. Empleo, is currently Dean and Professor at UST-AMV College of Accountancy at the University of Santo Tomas. Previously, she was Chair, B.S. Accountancy Program, University of Santo Tomas College of Accountancy at the University of the East – Manila and CPA Review Director and Corporate Treasurer at the Institute of Professional Review and Skills Development, Inc. Prior to her academic career she was Partner in Charge of Audit, Go and Associates, CPAs.
Dr. Empleo has been a resource speaker at numerous seminars on Philippine and International Financial Reporting Standards, conducted by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA); the Commission on Audit and Government Association of CPAs and the Philippine Association of Corporate State Auditors, Inc. The topics on which she provided her expert knowledge include: Employee Benefits, Share Based Payments, Provisions and Contingencies, Inventories, Leases, Property, Plant and Equipment, Investment Property, First Time Adoption of IFRS, Income Taxes, Presentation of Financial Statements, Earnings Per Share Events After the Reporting Period, and Performance Reporting and Accounting Changes, amongst other topics. Amongst her many publications and scholarly works are text books on Fundamentals of Accounting; Intermediate Accounting; Partnership and Corporations, Practical Auditing and the Theory of Accounts.
Dr. Empleo was conferred the title Research Fellow by the Royal Institution of Singapore in 2014; and appointed assessor of the ASEAN University Network (AUN) for quality assessment of business programs of the member universities of the AUN. She was also Chair of the Committee on National Accountancy Research of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She has also been involved in many professional organizations including being a member of the Board of Directors and Secretary of the International Academy of Accountants for Business, Research and Education; Member, Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA); and Member of the National Association of CPAs in Education.
Dr. Empleo graduated Cum laude from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Commerce, Majoring in Accounting; and obtained the degree of Master in Business Administration from the University of the East. She holds a PhD in Business Management from Manuel L. Quezon University.
